The SPARTATHLON Race will follow the route originally ran by Pheidippides from Athens to Sparta in 490 BC.-

Friday, 30th September 2011 Start: Hour 07.00 at the Athens Acropolis

Saturday, 1st October 2011 Finish: Hour 19.00 at the statue of King Leonidas at Sparta.

Duration: Provided 36 hours for the race.

Runners receive help from their supporters in the following and only Control Stations - Supply and Reference:

Register: Upon arrival in Athens, please come directly in contact with the Secretariat of the International Association SPARTATHLON.-

Weather conditions: Statistically the weather is mild the last weekend of September and the temperature is around 27ο C noon and 5ο C, at midnight, especially in the mountain. Sporadic rains and fog are possible.-

Medical Help: There will be nine doctors, eight ambulances and twenty physiotherapists to meet the needs of athletes during the race

Supply Station: Seventy-five points will provide water, refreshments and food necessary for athletes along the route of the race. The stations are located at a distance of 3 to 5 km between them. Individual drinks and other items can be picked up after the race.-

Housing and meals for athletes: All athletes will have free hosting on Wednesday, September 28, 2011, until Monday, October 3, 2011. During the same period food is given.-

Escorts: Special care has been taken to arrange the escort or assistance, please ask for details.-

Bus escort: There will be buses to the collection of athletes who leave the race and will take them to Sparta.-

Media Coverage: Journalists and television crews that will follow the athletes will be covering the game, you must register with the Press Office D.S.S. to receive the free card and identity details. For television coverage or television productions are absolutely necessary permission D.S.S. and a minimum contribution of € 1.000 .- paid to the rights of SPARTATHLON.-

SPARTATHLON Shop: Memorabilia Spartathlon 2011 and other species will be accessible to the residence of the athletes in Athens and at Inn Hotel, Sparta .-
