SP20 - Race Cancellation 2020

After the official announcement, of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Sports - General Secretariat of Sports, (https://gss.gov.gr/grafeio-tupou/deltia-tupou/3087-2020-09-01-14-24-38) dated on 01/09/2020, referring to the organization of Sports events outside the stadium, the Board of Directors, of the International SPARTATHLON Association, with great sadness has to inform that, despite the best efforts during the trying times of COVID-19, has to announce that the SPARTATHLON 2020 Race is cancelled.

The Board of Directors looks forward to the realization of SPARTATHLON 2021, with optimism, and wishes much better conditions to all that deal and participate in any way with Long Distance Races.

With 2020 being such a peculiar year, we all must realize that we got to be very careful and adaptable to the new situations.

Thus, we’ve created a series of rules that must be followed to ensure that this year’s race is a success.

SP20 - No2

 The Management Board of SPARTATHLON announces that the preparations are progressing as they were scheduled. 

Thanks to the present favorable situation in Greece and in accordance with the instructions of the greek government the race WILL take place on September 25 and 26, unless the situation caused by the pandemy deteriorates dramatically. 

1. The Management Board of Spartathlon wishes and hopes that the race take place on September 25^th and 26^th 2020 as scheduled. Unfortunately, however, the problems caused by Covid-19 throughout the planet impose a serious question mark on whether this will be possible.
