Job: Orthopedic surgeon and doctor of sportsmedicine. Sport: Former Gymnast in my youth, I startet running in 2003. Nine Spartathlon finishes, having a best time of 26:15 in 2014. Most emotional und most important Spartathlon race in 2016, together with my 18 years old son and another successful finish in 32:30. Surviving 2018 Zyklon Sorbas, finishing 2019 in 28:11 h, 2021 in 29:21, as well as 2023, when finishing for the 10th time, gives me hope to see King Leonidas in 2004 another time!

 Spartathlon revives the footsteps of Pheidippides, an ancient Athenian long distance runner, who in 490 BC, before the battle of Marathon, was sent to Sparta to seek help in the war between the Greeks and the Persians.

Described as the world's most grueling race, the Spartathlon runs over rough tracks and muddy paths, crosses vineyards and olive groves, climbs steep hillsides and, most challenging of all, takes the runners on the 1,200 meter ascent and descent of Mount Parthenio in the dead of night.
