I'm Rachel, a physiotherapist (specializing in cancer rehabilitation) out of Los Angeles, CA, USA. I've been running since 2010, and running ultras since 2013. This is my first Spartathlon after auto-qualifying at a 48h event in Arizona in Jan 2024! My other events I have planned this year include the Badger 100M/55k double (I think) in March 2024, Cocodona 250M race in Arizona in May 2024, and hopefully trying to qualify for the USA Women's 24H National Team with whatever remains of the year. I apparently do not dream big at all!

 Spartathlon revives the footsteps of Pheidippides, an ancient Athenian long distance runner, who in 490 BC, before the battle of Marathon, was sent to Sparta to seek help in the war between the Greeks and the Persians.

Described as the world's most grueling race, the Spartathlon runs over rough tracks and muddy paths, crosses vineyards and olive groves, climbs steep hillsides and, most challenging of all, takes the runners on the 1,200 meter ascent and descent of Mount Parthenio in the dead of night.
