I started running 8 years ago when I was an unhealthy, smoker who did no exercise and sat behind a desk all day. I went from half Marathons, to Marathons (including the Authentic Athens Marathon) before getting hooked on Ultramarathons and particularly 100 milers. I love the camaraderie of ultras and those bonds that are forged and remain long after you cross that finish line. The challenge for me is always about pushing my body to the limits and becoming comfortable with the uncomfortable! Fun Fact: I’m a 4 time Guinness World Record Holder for marathons, fastest (Egyptian) Mummy, fastest Badminton player and fastest man to run a marathon/half marathon in 20 kg of chainmail.

 Spartathlon revives the footsteps of Pheidippides, an ancient Athenian long distance runner, who in 490 BC, before the battle of Marathon, was sent to Sparta to seek help in the war between the Greeks and the Persians.

Described as the world's most grueling race, the Spartathlon runs over rough tracks and muddy paths, crosses vineyards and olive groves, climbs steep hillsides and, most challenging of all, takes the runners on the 1,200 meter ascent and descent of Mount Parthenio in the dead of night.
