The lottery process for participation in SPARTATHLON 2025 will take place this year electronically on Thursday 13/03/2025 at 19.00 at the offices of the INTERNATIONAL SPARTATHLON ASSOCIATION.
The certified page of Random.org will be used for the process, specifically the List Randomizer application, where SPARTATHLON maintains an account.
The electronic lottery is an automated process, without any human intervention in the production of the results. Information on the validity and reliability of the electronic lottery is available through random.org at https://www.random.org/faq/.
The lottery process for Greek and International athletes will be broadcast live on the SPARTATHLON Youtube channel and athletes or third parties are not allowed to be present at the lottery venue.
Participation Lists
Τhe following 2 lists are published:

- 25% (Best performance from the previous requirement)
- Single seat (single participation from a country)
- Veterans (who have finished the SPARTATHLON more than 10 times)
- First finishers in the SPARTATHLON as defined by the rules.
- List of athletes participating in the lottery:
The list of participants in the lottery will include the names of athletes who have a double lot from last year.
Athletes who have completed an application form and are not included in any list, means that they have not been accepted to the race because they did not meet the criteria.
The above 2 lists will not include athletes from Japan and Germany but will be considered quantitatively in the final total of 390 athletes who will be in the final participation list.

Lottery Procedure
The names of the already posted list of lottery candidates will be copied from www.spartathlon.gr and pasted into the List Randomizer with the athletes’ ids and names.
With the press of a button, the application automatically shuffles the names in a random order and thus we have a direct list with an ascending number for each name and id.
The process will be done separately for Greek athletes and separately for Foreign athletes.
The list of results will be printed directly from the random.org page and the committee will start sorting the names that will be called out until the list of final participants is filled.
For reasons of transparency, the list from Random.org will be posted in .pdf format the same day on the website www.spartathlon.gr.
While the ranking of the Foreign athletes will be posted the next or second day, the ranking of the Greek athletes who will participate in the 2025 race will be done at that time.
The lottery list generated by random.org will include the date and time as well as the ip of the network where the lottery was held.
