Hello my name is Sungjae Park. I am an accountant and long distance runner at South Korea. I like road running and trailrunning. I finished many 100km races, finished 100 mile trail running races three times (UTMB, Chiangmai by UTMB). I am an leader of a running group named Sparta United at South Korea. Our group has many ultra runners who do marathon, ultra road running and trail running. One of my goals and bucket list is finishing Sparatathlon race. I finished fuji 5 lakes sparta course at Japan within 12 hours. I am not sure if i can finish Spartathlon. However, I want to finish this race and let Koreans know more about this race. At Korea many older generation ultrarunners participated at Spartathlon before and it was famous. However, after some time passed, the numbers who are participating at this race are decreasing. Many Korean people are focusing more on UTMB now. I want to let my friends and running companions know this Spartathlon is also a very famous race. My marathon PB is 2hrs 48min.

 Spartathlon revives the footsteps of Pheidippides, an ancient Athenian long distance runner, who in 490 BC, before the battle of Marathon, was sent to Sparta to seek help in the war between the Greeks and the Persians.

Described as the world's most grueling race, the Spartathlon runs over rough tracks and muddy paths, crosses vineyards and olive groves, climbs steep hillsides and, most challenging of all, takes the runners on the 1,200 meter ascent and descent of Mount Parthenio in the dead of night.
