From the historic journey of Pheidippides to the runners of today, SPARTATHLON has, for more than four decades, been one of the world’s leading ultradistance races, inspiring generations of athletes to push their limits on one of the world’s most demanding race courses.
Rooted in a shared Greek heritage and united by common values of resilience, continuous evolution and human perseverance, ena athletics joins forces with the historic race as its Official Partner.
For ena athletics, this partnership is a natural extension of the philosophy that guides the design and development of its products. As a Greek performance running brand, the company develops every new product based on the real needs of runners and the demands of training and racing.
“Like the Spartathlon, we’re privileged to have our origins in a country where athleticism is forged through resilience to become outstanding achievement. As our exclusive testing partner, the grit and determination of Spartathlon runners will be channeled into the speed delivered by every ena product.”, Thomas Thomaidis, COO of ena athletics
Evangelos Polymeris, President of the International SPARTATHLON Association, commented:
“SPARTATHLON is a race deeply rooted in resilience, perseverance, respect and the pursuit of overcoming personal limits. We are delighted to welcome ena athletics to our family of partners and are pleased that a Greek company, focused on runners and their real needs, has chosen to meaningfully support both the athletes and the event. We believe this collaboration can create real value for the participants of the race, as well as for the wider running community.”
As Official Sponsor of SPARTATHLON, ena athletics will provide the official technical T-shirts for all participants, along with a finisher T-shirt, awarded to athletes who complete the race. In addition, as part of the partnership, ena athletics will support the event through a dedicated aid station, as well as branded materials that will contribute to the overall race experience.
At the heart of the partnership is a pilot testing programme for PROTO Gamma, ena athletics’ flagship performance running model. SPARTATHLON participants will voluntarily test PROTO Gamma throughout their preparation for the race, following a strict testing protocol and contributing to the ongoing development of the PROTO series through their experience and feedback.
The experience and feedback gathered through this initiative will help shape the next generation of PROTO Gamma, while further refining the brand’s existing models. Every test adds to a growing body of knowledge, helping create even better products for the running community.
About ena athletics
ena athletics is a Greek performance running brand built around a single platform: PROTO.
Every shoe in the PROTO series is designed around one core principle: controlled energy. At the heart of the platform is AXICORE™, an advanced midsole system developed in collaboration with the sports science team at Hôpital de la Tour in Geneva. It regulates how force moves through the shoe, directing energy forward rather than allowing it to dissipate.
PROTO Train is built for everyday training. PROTO Runner brings control to speed. PROTO Gamma is the brand’s flagship racing model. While each model serves a different purpose, they are all built on the same platform and guided by the same principle.
ena is not a collection of running shoes. It is a system engineered to deliver controlled, repeatable performance across every effort and every distance.

Held annually in Greece under the auspices of the Hellenic Olympic Committee, the Hellenic Ministry of National Defence, and the Hellenic Ministry of Tourism, the SPARTATHLON has been awarded the IAU Gold Label by the International Association of Ultrarunners (IAU), recognizing its outstanding organizational standards and international significance.
Organized by the International Spartathlon Association (ISA), the race attracts elite and amateur ultrarunners from more than 50 countries, while being supported by hundreds of volunteers and local communities. More than a sporting event, SPARTATHLON celebrates endurance, determination, fair play and the timeless values of the ancient Greek spirit, promoting Greece’s history, culture and hospitality to a global audience.
